A rugged (mountain) bike – towpaths are bumpy places
Slime your tubes or 100 miles could be 100 punctures – towpaths are thorny places
Puncture repair kit – see slime
Liquid carrier (bottle, camelback, etc) – cycling is thirsty business
Cycling helmet – you’ve only got one head
Cycling gloves – canal towpaths can have prickly bushes
Long trousers – see cycling gloves
Canal cycling permit – dead easy, download here, print and write your name on it. Really.
Bike pump – someone else is bound to have one…right ?
Spare inner tube – someone else is bound to have one…right ?
Bike lock – someone else is bound to have one…right ?
Cycling gloves – for softies who like the skin on their palms to stay there
